About Taito Basketball (japan)
Taito Basketball was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan, published by Taito. It arrived during a period when many developers were experimenting with bringing arcade style sports games to the home console, and this one fits squarely into that early NES library of straightforward competitive titles.
You control one of two basketball players on a single screen court. The main objective is to outscore your opponent by shooting the ball into the hoop. Your player can run, jump, and steal the ball; passing is automatic when you are near your teammate. The game moves at a fast pace, and the computer opponent is quite aggressive, making it difficult to maintain possession or get a clean shot. Playing it feels like a frantic, back and forth scramble where a single turnover can quickly lead to a basket for the other side.
