About Tag Team Pro-wrestling (japan)
Tag Team Pro-Wrestling came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983, developed and published by Data East. It was one of the earlier wrestling games on the platform, arriving at a time when many titles were still figuring out how to translate sports action into simple, blocky graphics and responsive controls. This game tried to capture the spectacle of a tag team match within those technical limits.
You control a team of two wrestlers, switching between them with a button press. The main goal is to win matches by pinning your opponents or forcing them to submit. A key mechanic is the tag team system; you can call in your partner for a double team move or to save you when you are in trouble. The ring is small, and the action is fast, with basic punches, kicks, and grapples. Matches can be difficult because the computer opponents are aggressive and recover quickly. It feels like a chaotic, frantic scramble where a single mistake can cost you the match.
