Tag Team Wrestling came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1983 from Data East. It was one of the earlier wrestling games on the console, arriving before the genre became more defined with titles like Pro Wrestling. You get two tag teams to pick from, the Strong Bads and the Ricky Fighters, setting up a simple rivalry on the mat.

You control one wrestler at a time, with a partner waiting on the apron for a tag. The main goal is to pin your opponent's shoulders to the mat for a three count or force a submission. The grappling system is its most distinct feature; when you lock up, a menu pops up and you have to quickly select a move like a suplex or a body slam before your opponent does. Each of the four characters also has a special move that only works against their designated rival. The action is slow and deliberate, with a difficulty that comes from the timing of those menu selections. It feels like a deliberate, almost tactical test of your reaction speed more than a chaotic brawl.
