You guide the Swamp Thing from left to right, screen by screen, through forests and caves. Your main goal is to rescue your friend Abby, fighting off various creatures and mutated plants along the way. You use a short-range swipe for most enemies and can find a projectile attack, a seed pod you throw, for dealing with foes at a distance. The game involves a lot of careful jumping across platforms and searching for keys to unlock new areas. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise timing needed to navigate environmental hazards. Playing it feels like a slow, methodical push through a dangerous and tangled wilderness.
