Super Xevious - Gump No Nazo is that weird Japan-only follow-up to the classic NES shooter Xevious. It's got the same top-down scrolling action, but throws in some bizarre new enemies and power-ups that never made it overseas. The first time I played it, I kept expecting familiar patterns—then suddenly these oddball ships would dive in from nowhere.
It's definitely Xevious, just... drunk. The hit detection feels slightly off compared to the original, and some of the new bomber formations will make you tilt your head. Not bad, just different in ways that take getting used to. If you've burned through the first game too many times, this is like finding a lost level pack with questionable translation choices.
Still can't decide if that floating pyramid thing is a glitch or intentional.
