About Super Street Basketball
Super Street Basketball came out for the Game Boy in 1994, published by Taito. It was part of that wave of portable sports games trying to capture the feel of arcade basketball on the small screen. You got a five on five game that was surprisingly complete for the hardware, with teams and a season mode to play through.
You control one player at a time, switching on the fly to whoever has the ball. The main goal is simple: outscore the other team. You dribble, pass, and shoot, with a special turbo button for bursts of speed. Stealing the ball involves timing your button press right as you get close to an opponent. The game moves at a quick pace, and the computer can be relentless on defense, making you work for every shot. It feels like a fast, physical game of pickup basketball squeezed into a cartridge.
