Super Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back (europe) Game
📅 1993 ✍️ LucasArts, Sculptured Software

Super Empire Strikes Back is one of those classic SNES platformers that feels like it’s trying to kill you—in a good way. You jump between icy Hoth platforms, dodge AT-AT fire, and slash through snowtroopers with Luke’s lightsaber (which, by the way, has this weirdly satisfying whoosh sound). The levels stick pretty close to the movie, so you’ll fight the Wampa, fly the Falcon through asteroids, and even duel Vader in Cloud City.
It’s tough—like, "throw-your-controller" tough in some spots—but the pixel art holds up surprisingly well. The Hoth battle scene with the walkers still looks awesome, even now. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand. You’ll die a lot before figuring out the timing on those jumps.
If you grew up with the SNES or just love brutally honest Star Wars games, this one’s a nostalgia trip worth sweating through.
