About Super Snakey (japan)
Super Snakey was a Japan only release for the original Game Boy, though I don't recall the developer offhand. It came out during that era when the handheld was flooded with puzzle games, each trying to put a new spin on a simple concept. This one was another take on the block sliding genre, which felt familiar but had its own particular rules to learn.
You control a snake that pushes blocks around a single screen puzzle. The main objective is to guide the snake to the exit by clearing a path, which involves shoving blocks into holes or against walls. Two mechanics define the game: the snake grows longer with every move you make, complicating your navigation, and you can only push blocks directly in front of your head, not pull them. The pacing is deliberate, as a wrong move can trap you and force a restart. It feels like a careful, spatial logic test where every decision has immediate consequences.
