Super Smash Bros. on N64 is where it all started—pure, chaotic fun with Nintendo’s biggest characters beating the stuffing out of each other. You pick Mario, Link, Pikachu, or one of the others, and suddenly you’re tossing Poké Balls, swinging swords, or just spamming Kirby’s down-B like a madman. The stages are wild too, from Peach’s floating castle to that one with the rising acid (why did we keep picking that one?).
It’s simple at first—just smash your friends off the screen—but there’s a weirdly deep strategy to it. Some characters feel clunky now (looking at you, Captain Falcon), but that’s part of the charm. And yeah, the graphics are blocky, but the sound effects? Iconic. That "GAME!" voice still lives in my head rent-free.
If you’ve got three friends and a pile of controllers, this is still one of the best ways to start an argument on a Friday night.
