Super Pitfall on the NES is one of those games that sounds way cooler than it actually is. You play as Harry, swinging through caves with a gun this time (finally!), hunting for treasure and rescuing his niece. But man, this game is brutal—hidden keys, warp zones you’ll never find without a map, and jumps so precise you’ll swear the game hates you.

It’s got that classic Pitfall vibe, but with way more frustration. The gun helps, but ammo’s scarce, so you’ll waste shots on bats and scorpions only to realize you needed those bullets later. And unlike the original, you don’t get infinite lives, so good luck memorizing the maze-like caverns before you run out of tries.

Honestly, it’s more of a relic than a must-play. If you’re into old-school punishment or just curious about Activision’s first Nintendo game, give it a shot—but maybe keep a walkthrough handy.
