Super Momotarou Dentetsu is one of those weirdly addictive train board games that somehow makes buying property and rolling dice feel like an adventure. You’re basically a rail tycoon version of Monopoly, but with Japanese landmarks and a ton of quirky little details—like stations where you can suddenly lose half your cash to a random event. The Game Boy version keeps it simple, but there’s something satisfying about watching your tiny train chug across a pixelated map while you bankrupt your opponents.
First time I played, I thought it’d be just another dry strategy thing, but nope—it’s got that classic Japanese board game chaos where one bad dice roll can flip everything. The music’s weirdly catchy too, even in 8-bit. If you’ve ever wanted to dominate Japan’s railroads with cartoonish ruthlessness, this is your chance.
