About Super Kick Off
Super Kick Off on the Game Boy came out in 1991 from Anco Software. It was part of that wave of sports games trying to fit a console experience into a pocket format. You got a football game you could carry around, which felt pretty novel at the time even if the screen was small and green.
You control a single player on the pitch, usually the one nearest the ball. Your main job is to pass and shoot your way to scoring more goals than the computer. The game uses a screen by screen view, so the action jumps to a new section of the field as the ball moves. You have to time your kicks carefully, judging the power and direction for each pass or shot. The pacing is fast, and the computer opponents can be tough to break down. It feels like a quick, challenging match of football in your hands.
