About Super Jeopardy!
Super Jeopardy! came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, published by GameTek. It was one of the many game show adaptations on the NES, arriving late in the console's life when licensed titles were common. The game tried to capture the structure of the television special it was based on, pitting four players against each other in a quiz format.
You control a contestant, using the D-pad to navigate menus and select answers. The main objective is to outscore three other competitors by choosing clues from a board and providing correct responses in the form of a question. Signature mechanics include wagering your own money on Daily Doubles and the final round where you must decide how much of your total to risk. The pacing is quick, with a strict timer for each response, and the difficulty comes from the broad range of trivia categories. It feels like a direct, if simplified, translation of the TV show's competitive pressure.
