Super James Pond came out for the Game Boy in 1992 from Millennium Interactive. It was part of that wave of platformers that tried to stand out on the small screen, a time when every character seemed to be an animal with an attitude. You controlled James Pond, a secret agent fish, which was a pretty common kind of premise back then.

You guide James through side scrolling levels, swimming and jumping to avoid enemies and hazards. The main goal is to rescue your fellow fish from the evil Dr. Maybe. A couple of things made it different; James could stretch his body upward to reach high platforms, and you collected power ups that changed your attack, like switching your standard shot for a more powerful spread. The game moved at a brisk pace, and some of the later levels could get quite tricky with their enemy placement. It feels like a straightforward, energetic scramble from one end of the level to the other.
