About Super Glove Ball
Super Glove Ball came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Mattel. It was one of those games designed specifically for the Power Glove peripheral, which made it a bit of a novelty even back then. You don't see many games built entirely around that kind of hardware, so it always stood out in the NES library, for better or worse.
You control a paddle on the screen, using the Power Glove to hit a ball back and forth. The main goal is to break all the bricks in each stage without letting the ball get past you. The signature mechanics are all tied to the glove; you swing your arm to hit the ball, and you can curve your shots by twisting your wrist. The game is divided into distinct rooms, and you explore them screen by screen, clearing one area before moving to the next. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty comes from managing the ball's angle and speed with your physical movements. It feels like a mix of air hockey and Breakout, but with the unique challenge of translating your real arm motions into the game.
