Super Chinese Fighter GB is one of those weird little Game Boy fighting games that somehow works better than it should. It's got that classic chibi art style, with tiny fighters throwing exaggerated punches and kicks—like if Street Fighter characters got shrunk down and given twice the attitude.
You pick from a roster of martial artists, each with their own goofy special moves (one guy literally spins like a top). The controls are simple—just two attack buttons—but combos actually feel satisfying to pull off. I wasn’t expecting much, but matches get surprisingly tense when you’re down to a sliver of health.
It’s definitely a product of its time—no fancy supers or flashy animations—but there’s charm in how straightforward it is. Perfect for quick fights between bus rides. The music’s got that classic Game Boy beep-bopping too, which somehow makes everything feel more dramatic.
