Super Bikkuriman on Game Boy is one of those weird little gems that somehow makes collecting sticker-like creatures actually fun. You start off with a basic team, but half the appeal is figuring out which weirdos work best together—I wasted way too much time trying to make the samurai guy overpowered before realizing he’s better as support.
The pixel art has that classic early-90s charm, all bright colors and chunky sprites. Some of the later levels get surprisingly tough, especially when you’re scrambling to swap characters mid-battle. It’s the kind of game you play in short bursts, then realize an hour’s gone by because you just needed to see what the next monster looked like.
If you’ve got a soft spot for oddball Game Boy RPGs, this one’s worth digging up.
