Super Battletank on the Game Boy is the follow-up to the NES original, and honestly, it’s a solid little port. You’re still driving a tank through blocky, top-down battlefields, blasting enemy units and dodging return fire—just now in monochrome. The controls take a second to get used to (turning feels a little stiff at first), but once you adjust, it’s weirdly satisfying to line up shots and watch enemy tanks explode into pixelated scrap.
It’s not the deepest game—missions are straightforward, and the graphics are what you’d expect from an early Game Boy title—but there’s something oddly addictive about clearing a map without taking a single hit. The music’s got that classic chiptune energy too, all beeps and basslines that stick in your head. If you liked the NES version, this one’s a decent way to take tank warfare on the go.
