About Super B-daman - Battle Phoenix 64
Super B-Daman: Battle Phoenix 64 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of 3D arena battlers on the console, a niche but active category. The game is based on the B-Daman toy line, which was essentially a marble-shooting system, and it translated that concept into a polygonal fighting space.
You control a B-Daman, a small robotic figure, from a third-person perspective. The main goal is to defeat your opponent by launching marbles at them while dodging their shots. Signature mechanics include charging your shot for more power, collecting different marble types with varying effects, and using a special attack when your gauge is full. The pacing is quick, with matches that can end suddenly if you are caught off guard. It feels like a fast-paced game of tag where your ammunition is limited and the arena is your only cover.
