Sumou Fighter - Toukaidou Basho (japan) Game

Sumou Fighter - Toukaidou Basho is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that somehow makes sumo wrestling feel fast-paced. You pick a rikishi (each with their own stats—some are slow tanks, others are quick but weak), and then it's all about timing your charge and shoving opponents out of the ring. The pixel art’s surprisingly expressive—you’ll see these tiny wrestlers puffing their cheeks or wobbling when they’re about to topple.
What’s cool is how simple it feels at first, but then you realize there’s actual strategy. Do you go for a quick slap to throw them off balance, or wait to counter their lunge? The AI gets sneaky later on, too. I lost a few matches because I got cocky and didn’t watch my footing.
It’s definitely a niche pick, but if you like retro sports games with personality, this one’s got charm. Just don’t expect a deep career mode or anything—it’s pure arcade sumo.
