Man, Street Fighter II on Game Boy—talk about a nostalgia trip. It’s the same classic arcade brawler that basically invented the whole fighting game craze, just crammed into a tiny cartridge. You pick one of the eight original fighters (Ryu and Ken still feel like the obvious choices, but I’ve got a soft spot for Blanka’s weird electric rolls) and jump into this globe-trotting tournament where every match is basically a new country and a new beatdown.
The controls are surprisingly solid for a Game Boy port—you’re not getting the full six-button arcade experience, but the moves still feel crisp once you get used to the two-button setup. And yeah, the screen’s tiny, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about landing a Dragon Punch on the bus ride home. Just don’t expect the AI to go easy on you.
It’s still the game that made fighting games matter, even if you’re squinting at a monochrome Chun-Li.
