About Street Cop
Street Cop was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed by Bandai. It was part of a wave of games designed for the Power Pad accessory, placing it in a specific niche of NES titles focused on physical interaction rather than traditional controller play.
You control a police officer who must chase and subdue criminals across a city map. Your main objective is to apprehend a set number of crooks before your energy depletes. The core mechanics involve stepping on the correct directional arrows on the Power Pad to move your character and pressing the action buttons to make him jump or swing his billy club. The game is divided into distinct screens you clear one by one, and the pacing is relentless as suspects constantly spawn and flee. It feels like a frantic, full-body effort where your feet do the thinking as much as your brain.
