Star Wars: Teikoku No Kage is one of those N64 gems that flew under the radar—probably because it never left Japan. You jump into this weirdly cool mix of Star Wars and samurai vibes, slashing through stormtroopers with a lightsaber that feels way heavier than in other games. The controls take a minute to get used to (N64 joystick and all), but once you do, the combat’s surprisingly satisfying.
The levels are these sprawling, semi-open areas where you’re either sneaking past AT-STs or going full Jedi on waves of enemies. Graphics are obviously dated now, but back then? That foggy Tatooine sunset hit different. And yeah, the story’s all in Japanese, but you’ll pick up enough from the cutscenes to follow along—mostly just a lot of dramatic staring and lightsaber clashes.
If you’re into obscure Star Wars games or just love digging up forgotten N64 titles, this one’s a trip. Just don’t expect it to play like Shadows of the Empire.
