Man, Shadows of the Empire on N64 was such a weird, ambitious mess—in the best way. You play as Dash Rendar, this knockoff Han Solo type, running around shooting stormtroopers, jumping on speeder bikes, and even piloting the Outrider in these janky-but-fun space battles. The Hoth level alone? Pure nostalgia—blasting AT-ATs with tow cables like you’re reliving the movie, except with way worse graphics and somehow more charm.
It’s got that classic late-’90s N64 clunkiness—awkward camera, weird hit detection—but the sheer variety keeps it interesting. One minute you’re sneaking through sewers, the next you’re in a full-on dogfight above a Star Destroyer. The story’s basically fanfiction filling the gap between Empire and Jedi, complete with cheesy cutscenes that somehow make Boba Fett even cooler.
Not gonna lie, some levels aged like milk (looking at you, IG-88 boss fight), but if you grew up with this, it’s still a blast. Just maybe lower your expectations for the graphics.
