Okay, so Star Trek: The Next Generation on NES is... an experience. You start off on the bridge of the Enterprise, which looks about as pixelated as you'd expect from a 90s licensed game. The controls are a little janky—you'll be fumbling with Z and X for phasers while trying not to bump into random space debris.
First mission? You're basically herding crew members back to their posts while some alien thing attacks. The away team sections feel like a weird mix of turn-based strategy and "why won't my guy move where I want him to?" Frustrating at first, but kinda charming once you get the hang of it. Just don't expect Picard-level diplomacy—this is more "shoot first, ask questions never."
Pro tip: Save often. The game doesn’t always explain what you’re supposed to do next, and you will get lost in a maze of identical-looking corridors. Still, hearing that tinny version of the theme song makes it weirdly worth it.
