About Star Force (japan)
Star Force came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, developed by Tehkan. It was part of that early wave of NES games where the focus was on straightforward, challenging action. You see a lot of shooters from that period, and this one fits right in with its single screen at a time progression.
You pilot a small ship that scrolls upward automatically. Your main goal is to survive through each area, destroying the waves of enemy crafts and structures that appear. A key mechanic is collecting power ups that change your weapon; you can switch between a standard shot and a wider spread. The game advances screen by screen, with a boss waiting at the end of each sector. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as enemy patterns become more complex.
