About Sqoon (japan)
Sqoon came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, developed by Irem. It was one of many shooters on the platform, a time when developers were figuring out how to make these games work with a controller. The premise is simple: the Earth is flooded, and an alien race called the Neptunians is attacking.
You pilot a pink submarine, moving left and right while the screen scrolls automatically. Your main goal is to rescue humans trapped in underwater cages before the timer runs out. You have two main weapons: a standard forward shot and bombs that drop downward to hit seafloor targets. The key is multitasking; you shoot enemy ships and creatures while carefully positioning your sub to pick up the stranded people. It is a fast-paced game that gets difficult quickly, demanding sharp reflexes and good positioning. Playing it feels like a constant, frantic juggling act against the clock.
