Remember those old Sports Illustrated for Kids magazines? This Game Boy game takes that vibe and turns it into a weirdly fun little sports mashup. You’ve got three events—snowboarding, skateboarding, and BMX—and each one plays like a stripped-down arcade racer with jumps, flips, and the occasional wipeout.
The controls are simple (just A and B buttons doing most of the work), but nailing the timing for tricks is tougher than it looks. Snowboarding feels the smoothest, while BMX has this janky physics thing where you sometimes bail for no reason. Still, there’s something satisfying about landing a backflip over a ramp while dodging random obstacles.
It’s not deep, but for a licensed kids’ game, it’s way more playable than it has any right to be.
