You control Spirou, a bellhop with a red uniform, navigating through levels filled with enemies and obstacles. Your main goal is to progress through each stage, rescuing your friend Spip the squirrel. The gameplay involves running, jumping across platforms, and using a basic melee attack to fend off foes. You also collect items and keys to unlock new areas, with some light exploration on a screen by screen basis. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some jumps require precise timing, and the difficulty can spike in later levels.
