Ever stumble across a weird little Game Boy game based on a comic you've never heard of? That's Spirou for you—a side-scroller where you play as this spiky-haired bellboy hopping across rooftops and punching robots. It's got that janky early-90s platformer feel where the jumps are just a bit floaty and some enemies take way too many hits to go down.
First few minutes in, you're running through a city level dodging mechanical birds and those annoying guys who shoot at you from off-screen. The comic's art style kinda comes through in the sprites, but the animations are stiff as heck. Still, there's something charming about how bizarrely French-Belgian it all feels—like someone took a Tintin knockoff and shoved it into a Mega Man wannabe.
Honestly? It's not great, but I can't hate it. You might dig it if you're into weird Euro platformers or just enjoy seeing how licensed games got crammed onto the Game Boy back then.
