About Spiritual Warfare
Spiritual Warfare came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992 from Wisdom Tree, a publisher known for its unlicensed religious games. It arrived late in the NES lifecycle, a time when many players were moving to 16-bit consoles, but it offered a distinct take on a familiar adventure formula.
You control a young Christian exploring a town overrun by demons, screen by screen. Your goal is to collect the six pieces of the Armor of God, each guarded by a boss enemy. You attack by throwing collected Fruit of the Spirit at non-believers, who convert upon being hit; you also find items like Samson's Jawbone for more powerful strikes. The pacing is methodical, as you carefully navigate areas and manage your fruit inventory. Playing it feels like a very specific, earnest interpretation of a classic adventure.
