About Spartan X 2 (japan)
Spartan X 2 came out in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed and published by Irem. It was only released in Japan, so you had to import it or find other ways to play it back then. This was late in the NES lifecycle, when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do.
You control a martial artist navigating through side scrolling stages, fighting off thugs with punches and kicks. Your main goal is to rescue a kidnapped woman, moving screen by screen through city streets and enemy hideouts. The game uses a life bar instead of one hit deaths, and you can pick up weapons like knives temporarily. It is known for being quite difficult, with aggressive enemies and limited continues. Playing it feels like a tough, methodical brawl where every mistake costs you.
