About Space Station Silicon Valley (j)
Space Station Silicon Valley came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed by DMA Design. It was one of those oddball titles that appeared during the N64's lifespan, a time when 3D platformers were common but this game took a different path entirely. You don't play as a typical hero; instead, you control a microchip named Evo, who has crash-landed on a space station turned wildlife preserve.
The core of the game involves possessing different animals by having Evo jump into their bodies after you defeat them. Each animal has unique abilities: a skunk can stun enemies with its spray, a mouse can run through narrow pipes, and a polar bear is strong enough to push heavy blocks. Your main goal is to solve environmental puzzles screen by screen to collect the parts needed to repair your ship. The pacing is deliberate, often requiring you to figure out which animal to use and in what order to progress. It can be quite difficult, with some puzzles demanding precise timing and careful observation of the level layouts. Playing it feels like a strange and clever mix of puzzle solving and creature-based exploration.
