Play Space Invaders Online

Nintendo released this version of Space Invaders for the Game Boy in 1994, a time when the handheld was full of arcade conversions. It was developed by Taito, the original creators, which gave it a sense of authenticity on the small screen. This wasn't a flashy new title but a solid, portable take on a game many already knew.

You control a laser cannon that moves left and right along the bottom of the screen. Your objective is to destroy every alien in the formation above before they land or destroy you. The aliens march side to side, dropping lower with each pass, and their movement speeds up as their numbers thin. You can hide behind destructible bunkers for protection, but your own shots will also chip away at them. The game demands quick reflexes and careful aim, especially when the last few invaders start diving aggressively. It feels tense and focused, a straightforward battle of attrition you can play in short bursts.
