About South Park
South Park for the Nintendo 64 came out in 1998 from Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of many games trying to capture the show's humor on a console known for family friendly titles. You play as one of the four main kids, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, or Cartman, running around the snowy town.
Your goal is to stop an alien invasion and a rival group of kids, the turkeys, using snowballs as your primary weapon. You explore the town screen by screen, which feels like moving between different television sets. You collect Cheesy Poofs to unlock new areas and Chinpokomon dolls to gain extra lives. The game can be surprisingly difficult, with some objectives feeling unclear and the controls a bit slippery on the ice. It feels like a chaotic playground brawl stretched into a full adventure.
