About Son Son (japan)
Son Son came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, a Capcom release from when the NES library was still growing. It was one of their earliest titles, arriving before many of the franchises they became known for.
You control a monkey boy who runs automatically from left to right across scrolling, multi-tiered stages. Your main goal is to reach the end of each level while fending off enemies, from flying creatures to other monsters, by shooting peas from your mouth. You jump between the ground and raised platforms to avoid hazards and collect fruit for points; sometimes you have to defeat a specific number of foes to proceed. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty comes from the constant enemy waves and the need for quick platform switches. Playing it feels like a frantic dash where you are always one misstep from losing a life.
