About Solitaire
Solitaire on the NES was released by Nintendo in 1990, a straightforward port of the classic card game for a console better known for action and adventure. It arrived late in the system's life, a quiet digital deck of cards amidst a library of platformers and RPGs.
You control a cursor to move cards around the tableau, building descending sequences in alternating colors on the main piles while moving aces to the foundation slots. The main objective is to clear the entire tableau by sorting all cards onto the foundations in ascending suit order. Key mechanics include drawing cards from the stockpile one or three at a time and recycling the waste pile when the stock is empty. The game moves at your own deliberate pace, with the difficulty lying in planning several moves ahead and managing limited redeals. It feels like a patient, solitary puzzle that rewards careful thought over quick fingers.
