Snowboard Kids is one of those N64 gems that somehow flew under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. It’s like Mario Kart on snowboards, but with way more attitude—your little snowboarder can actually grab air off jumps and pull off ridiculous tricks while racing down slopes. The courses are wild, with shortcuts hidden behind snowbanks and power-ups that range from speed boosts to literal homing missiles (because why not?).
What really makes it shine is the multiplayer. Four players crammed around a CRT, slamming into each other while trying not to wipe out on the half-pipe section? Pure chaos. The characters are all weirdos too—my go-to was the dude with the goggles permanently glued to his forehead. Graphics hold up surprisingly well for an N64 game, all bright colors and exaggerated animations that just scream late ‘90s charm.
If you missed this one back in the day, it’s still a blast to dig up and play with friends. Just don’t blame me when someone throws a snowball at you right before the finish line.
