About Snowboard Kids
Snowboard Kids came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1997, published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of colorful, multiplayer focused games that made the N64 a console for friends. While other racing games were about cars or karts, this one put you on a snowboard, which felt fresh at the time.
You control one of several kids racing down a mountain. The main objective is simple: finish first. You gain speed by linking tricks off jumps and collecting coins to buy better gear between races. The tracks are split into distinct screens, and you must pass through a gate at the end of each one to proceed, which adds a strategic layer to the chaos. You can also use items, like rockets or traps, to mess with the other racers. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can get surprisingly sharp, especially when you are fighting for the lead in the final stretch. It feels like a frantic, slippery battle where a well timed trick can save you.
