Snowboard Kids 2 came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, published by Atlus. It was part of that wave of colorful, multiplayer focused games that really defined the N64 library for me and my friends. You control one of several kids, each with their own board and stats, racing down multi tiered mountain courses. The main goal is straightforward: finish first. To get there, you perform tricks off jumps to build up a special meter; once full, you can unleash a unique character specific item, like a homing missile or a speed boost, to gain an edge or disrupt opponents. The tracks are split into distinct screen by screen sections, often requiring you to hit a goal gate to proceed to the next area, which keeps the races from being simple point to point sprints. The pacing is generally fast, though the learning curve for linking tricks and managing items can be tricky at first. It feels like a chaotic, joyful scramble where a well timed item or a perfect jump can completely turn a race around.
