Snow Bros. is basically Bubble Bobble but with snowmen—and honestly, that’s all I needed to hear before diving in. You play as Nick or Tom, these little snowball-throwing dudes who have to freeze enemies solid, then kick them into oblivion. The controls are stupid simple, but some of the later levels get surprisingly tricky when enemies start swarming you from all sides.
What I love is how satisfying it feels to chain frozen enemies together—knock one into another, and suddenly half the screen shatters. The music’s got that classic NES charm too, all bouncy and upbeat even when you’re getting cornered by yeti wannabes. It’s one of those games where you’ll fail a level three times, then nail it perfectly on the fourth try and feel like a genius.
Also, the Japanese version has this weird little bonus stage with a dancing sumo wrestler? No idea why, but I’m here for it.
