Snake Rattle N Roll came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Rare. It was part of that late NES era where developers were really pushing the hardware to do more complex, isometric 3D-style games. You don't see many games that look or play quite like it on the system.

You control one of two snakes, Rattle or Roll, and your goal is to eat enough Nibbley Pibbleys on each stage to make a scale appear, which lets you advance to the next level. The core gameplay involves exploring each screen-based area, gobbling up the creatures while avoiding enemies. You can use your tail as a weapon to knock foes away, and you have to be careful not to fall off the edges of the platforms. The pacing is pretty relentless; enemies respawn quickly, and the isometric perspective makes judging jumps tricky. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble to clear each stage before you get overwhelmed.
