Man, Skate or Die: Tour de Thrash on Game Boy takes me back. You start off with this tiny pixelated skater, and at first, the controls feel a little stiff—like, landing tricks is way harder than it should be. But after a few wipeouts, you get the hang of it, and suddenly you're ollieing over trash cans and grinding benches like it's nothing.
The courses are surprisingly varied for a Game Boy game—one minute you're skating through a construction site, the next you're dodging traffic in some back alley. The ramps give you just enough air to pull off a sketchy 360 before faceplanting into the pavement. And yeah, the graphics are super retro, but there's something satisfying about the way your little dude bails when you mess up.
It's not the deepest skate sim, but for a handheld game from back in the day, it nails that "one more try" feeling when you barely miss a high score. Just don't expect Tony Hawk levels of polish—this is pure, janky arcade skating at its finest.
