Skate or Die: Bad 'N Rad came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Konami. It was part of that early wave of portable games where developers tried to fit big ideas onto a small, monochrome screen. You got a lot of these side-scrolling action titles back then, each one trying to carve out its own niche.

You control a skateboarder navigating through a series of side-scrolling and top-down levels. Your main goal is to get from the start of each stage to the exit, which sounds simple until you hit the first enemy. You use your skateboard to jump over gaps and attack foes by either ramming into them or performing an ollie to strike from above. The game mixes platforming with simple combat; sometimes you are rolling along, and other times you are in a forced fight scene. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise jumps required to avoid falling. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to keep your momentum going while everything tries to knock you off your board.
