About Simpsons, The - Bart Vs. The World
Bart vs. The World came out for the NES in 1991 from Imagineering Inc. It was part of that wave of licensed games where you got to run around as a cartoon character, in this case Bart Simpson. The game arrived when the show was incredibly popular, so it felt like a natural fit for the console, even if the results were always a bit of a mixed bag.
You control Bart through a series of side-scrolling levels set in different countries. Your main goal is to travel the globe to collect missing pieces of a prized Krusty merchandise statue. The gameplay involves a lot of platform jumping and using your trusty skateboard to get around. You also collect various items, like slingshot ammo to take out enemies, and you'll find yourself solving simple environmental puzzles. The pacing can feel slow at times, and some of the platforming requires precise timing, making certain sections more difficult than they first appear. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes clunky, trip through a simplified version of the show's humor.
