Oh man, Bart vs. The Space Mutants is one of those NES games that looks way easier than it actually is. You start off just running around Springfield smashing purple objects (because the aliens hate purple, apparently?) with your slingshot, but then suddenly you're dodging cops, jumping over pits, and trying not to get wrecked by random citizens. The spray paint mechanic is kinda janky but weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down.

First level seems simple until you realize you need to collect a stupid number of balloons while avoiding everything that moves. Classic NES difficulty—prepare to die a lot before figuring out the patterns. The soundtrack slaps though, and the sprite work captures that early Simpsons vibe perfectly. Just don't expect it to hold your hand.
