Shuyaku Sentai Irem Fighter is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never made it outside Japan. It's a side-scrolling beat 'em up where you pick from three martial artists—each with their own weirdly specific moves, like one guy who fights with a fishing rod (seriously). The sprites are tiny but surprisingly detailed, and the controls feel stiff at first until you get used to the rhythm of combat.
First 10 minutes? You'll mash through waves of samey-looking thugs, accidentally jump into pits a few times, and probably get wrecked by the first boss until you figure out his pattern. The music's got that classic Game Boy chiptune energy—all bleeps and bloops that somehow make punching dudes more satisfying. Not the deepest fighter out there, but there's charm in its jank.
If you're into obscure retro brawlers, this one's a fun curiosity.
