About Shooting Range
Shooting Range came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, developed and published by Bandai. It was part of that wave of light gun games trying to bring the arcade experience home, a straightforward title for players with the NES Zapper.
You control a cursor with the Zapper, aiming at targets across different themed stages. The main goal is to shoot all the red and white bullseyes on the bandits and objects before your energy depletes or time runs out. One stage has you in a saloon, shooting bottles off a shelf in a carnival style challenge; another takes you to a moon base for a sci fi twist on the formula. The pacing is quick, and missing too many shots makes the game surprisingly tense. It feels like a simple test of speed and accuracy, a direct challenge between your aim and the screen.
