About Shinobi (unl)
Shinobi was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, a conversion of Sega's earlier arcade game. It arrived during a period when side-scrolling action games were common, and this one stood out with its distinct ninja theme.
You control the ninja Joe Musashi, moving through levels to rescue hostages held by a criminal syndicate. The game progresses screen by screen; you clear each area of enemies before advancing. Your primary tools are a limitless supply of shurikens for ranged attacks and a close-range sword slash. Between the standard platforming stages, the game shifts to a first-person perspective for bonus rounds where you must hit moving targets with throwing stars.
