Shikinjou is one of those weird little Game Boy gems that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this odd charm to it. You’re basically navigating a maze-like castle, solving puzzles and avoiding traps, with this sort of claustrophobic, almost horror vibe despite the chunky pixel art. The controls take a second to get used to (old-school stiff, you know how it is), but once it clicks, there’s something satisfying about figuring out each room’s trick.

No English translation, so you’ll be guessing at menus, but the gameplay’s straightforward enough to muddle through. If you’re into obscure retro stuff or just love digging up forgotten Game Boy oddities, this one’s worth a look. Just don’t expect a walk in the park—some of those traps are downright mean.
