Okay, so Shaq Fu on GB is… a thing. You play as Shaq—yes, that Shaq—throwing punches and kicks in a weirdly stiff Game Boy fighting game. The sprites are tiny, the controls take some getting used to, and honestly, it feels like someone just slapped Shaq’s face onto a generic martial arts game. But that’s kind of the charm?
You’ll fight through a handful of bizarre opponents (some look like they wandered in from a bad kung fu movie), pulling off moves that feel way more powerful than they should for a Game Boy title. The sound effects are hilariously exaggerated—every hit sounds like a cinderblock getting dropped. It’s janky, it’s clunky, and if you grew up with it, you probably have a soft spot for it anyway. Just don’t expect a polished fighter.
If you’re into weird retro oddities or just want to see Shaq roundhouse kick a guy into next week, this is your game. Otherwise, maybe stick to NBA Jam.
